Akinator Review

Akinator Review

Developed by Elokence and released in 2007, Akinator is similar to a game most people in the world have played, 20 questions. Akinator is a game where an artificial intelligence attempts to guess the person/character you’re thinking of by asking questions. The more questions it takes to guess correctly and the less amount of people who’ve chosen this character in the past means the higher score you’d get in the future.

Akinator has a 2D basic interface with button options such as yes, no, probably, etc. to help you answer the questions to the best of your ability. With each win, you gain points and with those, you can unlock different costume options for Akinator and change the scenery in the background.

This game has been downloaded by over 5 million people and is a common game pulled up between friends of mine which is part of the reason I personally enjoy it. The appeal of this game is that it’s entertaining on your own but especially, in my opinion, with others. You get to find out about different shows, movies, books, animes, etc. that your friends enjoy. In general, it’s fun to try and think of obscure characters in an attempt to dupe an AI.

Reviewing a game like this can be proven to be difficult but manageable. This game honestly has no difficulty level as far as being user-friendly is concerned. It’s simple and straight to the point so it gets my praise there. On that note, the art design is simple as well since it’s a 2D button game but that being said I have to rate it a bit lower mostly because the interface needs a facelift for 2018.

For creativity, it deserves just above average since it found a way to take a normally oral game and make it into its own application. For what it’s worth it’s awarded highly mostly because it’s not only free but this app doesn’t pester you with ads constantly; While on the other hand, it isn’t a game most would play often making it probably, and unfortunately, one of the first games to go if someone ran out of room on their phone.
